Aberavon Rugby Club are delighted to announce the signing of dynamic prop forward Freddie Chapman ahead of the new season.

Known for his aggressive, upfront style and set-piece dominance, Chapman joins the Wizards with a clear focus — to bring aggression, stability, and a relentless work ethic to the front row.

Chapman was drawn to Aberavon by the honesty and ambition of the club.

“The honesty around the club about what they want to achieve and how they want to play really impressed me,” he said. “First impressions were great — everyone is welcoming and the environment feels like somewhere I can really contribute.”

The move came after a phone call from Head Coach Jason Hyatt, followed by a meeting with the coaching team.

“Jason and the other coaches were clear on their vision and how I’d fit into the team,” Chapman added. “I’m here to help the club go as far as it can this season.”

On the pitch, Chapman prides himself on his physicality in the scrum, while continually working on all aspects of his game. Off the pitch, he brings professionalism and a team-first mentality.

“I’m always looking to improve — scrummaging is my bread and butter, but I’m also aiming to make an impact around the park,” he said.

Head Coach Jason Hyatt is confident Chapman will be a strong addition to the squad.

“Freddie brings real aggression and stability at scrum time. He has a strong work ethic and fits perfectly with the culture we’re building. The fans can expect commitment, physicality, and a player who will give everything for the jersey.”
