Preview: Swansea v Aberavon

This Friday, Aberavon make the short trip to Dunvant RFC’s Broadacre ground to face Swansea in Super Rygbi Cymru, with kick-off at 7:30 p.m.

Last season, Swansea finished tenth in the inaugural Super Rygbi Cymru campaign, recording four wins from eighteen regular-season fixtures before losing 30–33 away to Bridgend in the wildcard play-off. The Wizards claimed a 26–0 home victory over Swansea at the Talbot Athletic Ground, while the All Whites edged the return fixture 10–8 at St Helen’s.

This term, Swansea opened with two away defeats against Pontypool and Llandovery, though they collected two bonus points in the latter. The All Whites responded with an impressive away win at Newport, securing a try bonus point, and backed it up with a home victory over the same opponents. They then travelled north to beat RGC 1404, again claiming a try bonus point, before suffering a narrow home loss to Carmarthen Quins, earning a losing bonus point. Swansea’s next run included defeats at Ebbw Vale and a draw away to Bridgend, where they picked up a try bonus point. The All Whites bounced back with a bonus-point win at Cardiff before falling at home to Llandovery last weekend.

Friday’s match will be refereed by Morgan White, assisted by Matthew Leon and Josh Sealey.
