Tata Steel Wizards League

Sport is the focus of the Tata Steel Wizards League with rugby and netball at the core. This initiative ensures that children are given the opportunity to participate in a team by representing their school throughout the academic year. The Tata Steel Wizards League provides an opportunity for all to participate in sport; from playing competitive sport, fun and games, marketing, digital content and much more … Excellence; Pride and Passion; Teamwork and Trust; Honesty and Respect; and Fair Play are core values created and shared by Aberavon RFC – these core values are detailed within this document. Together this programme creates a positive environment for children. Parents and teachers have their part to play in providing a positive culture for sport to be enjoyable. If children are not enjoying, then we are all failing.

The Wizards League began before 2010 with only around four schools participating. Tata Steel understood the benefits of the programme and have supported the initiative since. In 2010, the Wizards League became the ‘Tata Steel Wizards League’. The league provides all schools the opportunity to enjoy organised competitive sport. The initiative incurs no cost to the schools as all costs, such as; playing kit, buses and trophies, is covered by Aberavon RFC and Tata Steel. During the past four years the ability and standard of participating schools have increased significantly, thus creating a more competitive sports initiative.
