Aberavon Rugby Club can confirm that Strength & Conditioning Coach Sam Brooks has left the club to pursue a new opportunity.

Sam joined the club ahead of the 2026/27 season and played an important role during the opening block of pre-season, helping to establish high physical standards and bringing genuine edge and competition to the squad.

Everyone at Aberavon Rugby Club would like to thank Sam for his professionalism, commitment and contribution during his time at the Talbot Athletic Ground. His work with the players has been greatly appreciated, and we are grateful for the impact he has made.

Head Coach Chris Davies said:

“I’d like to thank Sam for everything he has brought to the club. From day one, he challenged the players to improve and helped create a competitive training environment that has been invaluable during pre-season. We wish him every success in his next chapter and thank him for his contribution to Aberavon Rugby Club.

This is exactly what Super Rygbi Cymru was created for — providing a platform for talented people to grow, gain invaluable experience, create opportunities, and build relationships that will benefit both the individual and the game for years to come.”

Sam Brooks added:

“I’ve loved every second at Aberavon. Everyone associated with the club from the supporters, coaches and players to the staff has made it a truly special place and made this the toughest goodbye I’ve ever had to say.

I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity, the memories and the people I’ve met along the way. A special mention goes to Tom Jones, who has been an incredible mentor and has played a huge role in my development over the past two years.

While this chapter comes to an end, one thing won’t change if I ever want to spend a weekend watching rugby, there’s only be one place I’ll be THE TAG.”
