As Aberavon Rugby Club prepares for its historic 150th anniversary season, we’re looking for enthusiastic, creative and ambitious individuals to join our media team and help tell the story of one of Welsh rugby’s most iconic clubs.
Competing in Super Rygbi Cymru, this internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience within a semi-professional rugby environment. Whether your passion lies in journalism, photography, videography, social media, broadcasting or digital marketing, you’ll play an important role in bringing the club’s story to life throughout the 2026/27 season.
This role is ideal for students, recent graduates or aspiring media professionals looking to build their portfolio, develop industry contacts and gain valuable practical experience in sport.
Key Responsibilities
Matchday Coverage
- Assist with live matchday coverage across the club’s social media platforms.
- Capture behind-the-scenes content around the squad and management team.
- Support live updates including team news, scores and key match moments.
- Assist with post-match interviews and reporting.
- Input match statistics into Sporting Records Online.
Journalism & Content Creation
- Write match reports, player features and website articles.
- Produce engaging content for the club’s official website and matchday programme.
- Help create supporter-focused stories that celebrate the club’s history and community.
- Contribute ideas and content throughout the club’s 150th anniversary celebrations.
Media Operations
- Support photographers, videographers and media personnel on matchdays.
- Assist with press requests and post-match interview logistics.
- Help maintain professional media standards across all club activities.
Digital & Social Media
- Create content for Instagram, Facebook, X, TikTok and LinkedIn.
- Support fan engagement initiatives and digital storytelling.
- Assist in developing creative campaigns throughout the season.
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone who is:
- Passionate about sport, media and storytelling.
- A confident communicator with strong writing skills.
- Organised, reliable and enthusiastic.
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a team.
- Able to work in a fast-paced sporting environment.
- Available on home matchdays throughout the season.
- Familiar with major social media platforms.
Desirable Skills
- Photography, videography or graphic design experience.
- Journalism, media, communications or marketing background.
- Knowledge of rugby union.
- Experience using Canva, Adobe Creative Suite or social media scheduling platforms.
