As Aberavon Rugby Club prepares for its historic 150th anniversary season, we’re looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Strength & Conditioning Intern Coach to join our Performance Team.
Competing in Super Rygbi Cymru, this internship provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience within a high-performance rugby environment, working alongside experienced coaches and support staff as part of a senior semi-professional rugby programme.
This role is ideal for students or recent graduates looking to develop their practical coaching skills and gain valuable experience in elite sport.
Key Responsibilities
Training Support
- Assist with the delivery of player warm-ups, movement preparation and conditioning sessions.
- Support the Lead Strength & Conditioning Coach with the planning and delivery of physical preparation.
- Help prepare and maintain training equipment and performance areas.
- Promote high standards of professionalism, organisation and player welfare throughout training.
Performance & Athlete Monitoring
- Assist with player testing, monitoring and data collection where appropriate.
- Support the tracking of player performance and physical development.
- Contribute to performance analysis and athlete monitoring processes.
Medical & Rehabilitation Support
- Assist with injury prevention programmes.
- Support return-to-play protocols alongside the club’s medical team.
- Help ensure players are physically prepared throughout the season.
Matchday Operations
- Provide support during all First Team home and away fixtures.
- Assist with pre-match preparation and activation.
- Support players during half-time and post-match recovery.
- Contribute to the smooth running of the club’s performance environment on matchdays.
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone who is:
- Studying towards, or recently graduated in, Strength & Conditioning, Sport & Exercise Science or a related discipline.
- Passionate about rugby and athlete development.
- Organised, reliable and eager to learn.
- Able to work effectively within a multidisciplinary performance team.
- Professional, enthusiastic and proactive.
- Available to commit to Tuesday and Thursday training sessions, together with all First Team fixtures throughout the season.

Commitment
The role requires attendance at:
- Tuesday evening training sessions.
- Thursday evening training sessions.
