Aberavon Rugby Club are delighted to confirm the appointment of Rhys Henry as Scrum Coach ahead of the 2026/27 Super Rygbi Cymru season.
Henry’s appointment completes the Wizards’ coaching team for the forthcoming campaign and adds current professional playing experience to the group as the club prepares to begin its 150th anniversary season.
A Port Talbot product who came through the local rugby pathway, Rhys is currently a tighthead prop with the Ospreys and has developed his game within the professional environment.
Alongside his playing commitments, Henry has continued to develop his coaching experience and is currently involved with Cwmafan RFC, maintaining strong links with the local rugby community.
As part of his role with Aberavon, Rhys will have a specific focus on the scrum, working closely with the club’s forwards and wider coaching team throughout the season.
Head Coach Chris Davies believes Henry is an important final addition to the coaching group.

“I’m really pleased to bring Rhys into the group. We wanted someone who could bring real detail and expertise to our scrum, but equally someone who understands the area, the people and what representing Aberavon means.
“Rhys is a Port Talbot boy, he is currently operating within a professional environment with the Ospreys, and he has a real appetite to develop as a coach. That combination makes him a great fit for us.
“We’ve worked hard to build a coaching team with clearly defined areas of responsibility and Rhys gives us another specialist voice. His appointment completes that team and I’m excited about the group we’ve put together for the season ahead.”
